A dedicated Solar Fund has been introduced by South African financial firm Bravura Energy, as part of a calculated effort to promote solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This fund’s only purpose is to invest in solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and profit from triple net power purchase agreements (PPAs) with solar suppliers.

The fund primarily targets entities engaged in overseeing PPAs, including engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies. These companies, having already conducted feasibility studies and having projects in the pipeline, stand to benefit significantly from this venture.

By introducing an alternative funding avenue, the Solar Fund aims to offer a more cost-effective solution compared to conventional financing methods, which often involve higher costs, whether through debt finance or equity funding. The fund’s approach includes lower interest rates tailored to suit the needs of EPC companies and solar providers.

Bravura Energy goes a step further, expressing openness to the prospect of transferring asset ownership to the solar provider after a span of five to ten years, either in the form of cash or shares in the provider’s business. This innovative approach is geared towards fostering long-term partnerships and shared successes.

Moreover, the fund extends comprehensive support to clients by providing access to a team of financial and technical experts. This collaborative effort is set to enhance the overall viability and sustainability of the projects undertaken in the solar energy sector.

Bravura Energy is actively engaged in identifying and supporting promising projects that contribute to the development of reliable and robust energy supplies in Africa. This strategic emphasis on advancing the renewable energy landscape aligns with the broader global efforts to transition towards sustainable energy solutions.

The launch of the Solar Fund marks a significant milestone in Bravura Energy’s commitment to driving sustainable energy initiatives in South Africa. By providing a dedicated funding platform tailored to the unique needs of solar PV projects, Bravura Energy is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of renewable energy in the region.
