Prof BS Chowdhry, serving as the Chair of IEEE Karachi Section in the Asia Pacific Region, proudly represented Pakistan at the prestigious IEEE Sections Congress held in Ottawa, Canada.

The event, themed “Enabling Leaders to Build a Sustainable Future,” is a triennial flagship gathering that unites the grassroots leadership of IEEE from member countries worldwide. It provides a platform for sharing ideas, addressing concerns, and exploring solutions to better serve IEEE members.

As the sole delegate from Pakistan at SECTION CONGRESS SC2023, Prof Chowdhry had the unique opportunity to connect with past, present, and future IEEE Presidents and fellow delegates. This global assembly of distinguished IEEE personnel, academic experts, and industry leaders underscores the importance of IEEE in shaping the future of technology and innovation.

The theme, “Enabling Leaders to Build a Sustainable Future,” resonated throughout the congress program, reflecting IEEE’s commitment to sustainability and its role in addressing global challenges. The event also featured essential training sessions for IEEE volunteers, enhancing their ability to serve their respective communities effectively.

One of the key objectives of Sections Congress was to empower dedicated IEEE volunteers to provide recommendations for the organization’s future direction. The process involved each of the 10 geographical regions of IEEE submitting statements with three recommendations, ensuring achievability, worldwide relevance, conciseness, and alignment with the congress theme. This collaborative effort reinforces IEEE’s commitment to its members and the broader global community.

The congress also marked a significant moment as IEEE members reunited after the challenges posed by the pandemic. It provided a valuable platform for attendees to engage with IEEE leadership, including the President and President-elect, while fostering connections among delegates from all ten regions.

The Sections Congress Committee, along with the entire governing body of IEEE’s Member and Geographic Activities (MGA), worked diligently to curate a program that offered consistency, interest, and practical insights for all participants.

Prof BS Chowdhry’s presence and active participation exemplify Pakistan’s commitment to the global technological community and its role in shaping a sustainable and innovative future.

The IEEE Sections Congress serves as a testament to the organization’s dedication to advancing technology, fostering collaboration, and empowering leaders to drive positive change in an ever-evolving world.
