The Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed by H.E. Zhumaliev Kubanychbek Myrzabeckovich, Founder of Eurasian International University (EIU) and the 4th Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan in 1998, and Amb. Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, Executive Director of COMSATS.

The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) and the Eurasian International University (EIU) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to establish a long-term partnership in various scientific and technological fields, with an initial focus on Telehealth. The signing ceremony took place at the COMSATS Secretariat in Islamabad.

During the ceremony the founder of EIU, H.E. Zhumaliev expressed his appreciation for Amb. Nafees’ support and encouragement in formalizing the cooperation agreement. He also pledged his personal support to strengthen the relationship between COMSATS and Kyrgyzstan.

COMSATS is an intergovernmental organization comprising 27 developing countries, dedicated to promoting the development of science and technology (S&T) in its member states. On the other hand, EIU is an international educational and scientific research institution located in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with a focus on improving healthcare quality, disease prediction, and community health through education and research.

The LOI signifies the beginning of specific agreements for cooperation in various areas. One of the initial initiatives under this partnership is the establishment of Telehealth clinics in Kyrgyzstan, connected to the Telehealth Resource Centre in Pakistan. This Telehealth service aims to provide tech-enabled access to high-quality healthcare for the people of Kyrgyzstan.

The collaboration between COMSATS and EIU is expected to facilitate advancements in science and technology, particularly in the field of Telehealth, benefiting the healthcare sector and communities in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.

Kubanychbek Mrzabekoviç Jumaliyev, who was born on April 26, 1956, presided over Kyrgyzstan from 24 March to 23 December 1998. He obtained his degree from Ryazan Radiotechnical Institute and worked at Fluze Polytechnic Institute from 1978 to 1992. For his PhD in physical and technological sciences, he researched holography and optical information processing.
