China Tops Global Security Technology Patent Distribution: IPRdaily Report

China currently has the largest distribution of security technology patents worldwide, according to a recent “Security Technology Patent Analysis Report” report from IPRdaily.

China possessed 20,445 security technology patents, or 54.4 percent of the total number in the world, as of the end of April, according to IPRdaily, and the United States had only acquired 9,155 of them. Therefore, the leading innovators in this field came from these two countries.

It also noted that Chinese companies made up seven of the top 10 applicants globally and that China had 2.23 times as many security technology invention patents as the United States.

IPRdaily is a top global media outlet for intellectual property (IP) technology, with a particular emphasis on IP services and the ecosystem of the IP market.

The IPRdaily research team analysed security technology as a new generation technology cluster in the report for the first time, summarising its definition and connotation.

It described security technology, also referred to as information security technology, as a technology and method involving the protection of computer systems, networks, and information systems, as well as any related data and information. System engineering is covered in many different ways by this definition.

The report included an analysis of invention patents in the area of global security technology as well as three technical aspects of business, data, and system security.

Technology-based businesses have emerged as the key players in security technology patent applications as the driving force behind the growth of the digital economy.

According to the report, the top 10 applicants have 25,572 patent families.

With 3,806 security tech patent families, China’s Ant Group took the top spot, followed by IBM and Huawei, which came in second and third with 3,545 and 3,433 security tech patent families, respectively.

Tencent, State Grid Corporation of China, Microsoft, ZTE, Intel, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), and China Mobile are additional candidates among the top 10.
