The president called for increased attention to the health and education sectors on Thursday in order to give the two fundamental services to the society’s underprivileged groups.

Speaking at the International Conference on Health Research 2023’s closing ceremony at the Khyber Girls Medical College, the President noted that only four to five percent of the nation’s population had the opportunity to pursue higher education, while the majority of citizens were confronted with serious issues.

The president called for increased attention to the health and education sectors on Thursday in order to give the two fundamental services to the society’s underprivileged groups.

Out of the 250 million people living in the country, he noted that 27 million children were not attending school and that many people lacked access to high-quality healthcare in their local communities.

The president emphasised the need for stakeholders, philanthropists, volunteers, and ulema to play a part in raising awareness of contemporary challenges and educating children, as well as urging policymakers to make prompt decisions.

According to him, the civil society should step forward to take on a share of the responsibility in order for the government to be able to establish schools for the 27 million children who are not in school or provide health services for the entire population. He acknowledged that the country’s economy was struggling and expressed the hope that things would get better over time.

However, he continued, everyone would have to play a part in building the country, including teachers, doctors, students, Ulema, and everyone else.

The nation, where 200,000 certified nurses are employed in the field, needs doctors and nurses, according to the president. He expressed gratitude to the first international conference on health research’s planners and called for fresh research conducted in cooperation with global experts.

He urged medical professionals, particularly recent graduates, to concentrate on cutting-edge research areas and inform the public about communicable and non-communicable diseases as well as available preventative measures.

The president made a point of urging women to pursue practical careers after completing their education, particularly in the medical sector. Chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, spoke at the event and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackling the problems facing the health sector.
