The LUMSx, a new digital learning platform, has received the generous support of the Babar Ali Foundation (BAF).

Through its extensive selection of courses in a variety of disciplines, LUMSx is enabling education to be accessed by people from all socioeconomic backgrounds and locations. The University will increase its reach through LUMSx in order to offer top-notch education.

Recently, LUMSx, a digital learning platform was formally celebrated, with members of the LUMS senior leadership, the LUMSx team, Syed Babar Ali and BAF, being thanked. By saying, “I’d like to thank the Vice Chancellor Dr. Arshad Ahmad and Director DR. Suleman Shahid for breathing life into LUMSx,” Mr. Ali praised the University’s efforts to start the initiative.

This platform gives the LUMS community a chance to learn outside of the classroom, reinforcing the school’s mission to serve not only its students but also a much wider audience throughout Pakistan and beyond.

With a wide range of courses available, including data analytics, neuroscience, health and wellness, and lessons in Pashto and Farsi, LUMSx aims to improve the standard of online education by studying how people learn and teach online. One of LUMSx’s groundbreaking initiatives was the creation of an Urdu translation of Dr. Barbara Oakley’s well-known course “Learning How to Learn,” which teaches students efficient learning strategies.

LUMSx Director Dr. Suleman Shahid served as the event’s host and displayed both finished and ongoing courses while highlighting the partnership with Arbisoft and LUMSx’s work with institutions like the Center for Continuing Education Studies and the LUMS Learning Institute.

Along with Vice Chancellor Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Senior Adviser for Strategic Projects Dr. Launa Gauthier, Rector Mr. Shahid Hussain, Founding Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali, Executive Director for Strategic Initiatives Dr. Mohammed Ali Khan, and Dean of the Syed Babar Ali School of Engineering Dr. Sabieh Anwar. To represent BAF, Syed Hyder Ali, CEO of Bulleh Shah Packaging, was also present.

LUMS has consistently been a trailblazer in extending access to top-notch education and fostering a diverse community, according to Dr. Ahmad, who emphasised the critical role LUMSx plays in the development of Pakistan’s digital education landscape. We hope that LUMSx will serve as a benchmark for online learning in Pakistan and inspire other institutions to join in.

This sentiment was echoed by Mr. Shahid Hussain, who also said, “I am confident that LUMSx programmes will soon set the standard nationally and the digital nature of this platform will allow us to transcend geographical limitations. As a collective, we have a duty and an opportunity to advance this through LUMSx.
