A Center for Marine Affairs and Marine Sciences as well as a Study Center for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were established by the University of Gwadar.

In this regard, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir presided over the third syndicate meeting of the University of Gwadar, which was held at the regional centre of the higher education commission in Quetta.

An official statement released following the meeting stated, “The syndicate decided to establish a CPEC study centre and a Center for Marine Affairs and Marine Sciences, in addition to a few new teaching departments.

According to Gwadar Pro, members of the syndicate attended the meeting, including the acting dean of the faculty of management sciences, commerce, and social sciences, Professor Dr. Jan Muhammad, acting controller of examinations Dr. Kambar Farooq, and secretary of colleges and higher and technical education for Balochistan, Hafiz Abdul Majid Bohair.

The agenda for the meeting was laid before the house for discussion and action by the UG registrar.

The forum thoroughly discussed each item on the agenda and made decisions regarding crucial issues like the introduction of new initiatives and the authorization to regularise the employment of contract workers who have successfully completed the hiring process and their probationary periods.

All of the immediate concerns regarding the academic, administrative, and financial health of the university were discussed and resolved by the members.

The first meeting of the Syndicate, the third academic council meeting, the third meeting of the finance and planning committee for the budget estimates of FY 2023–24, and the annual report of the university for the year 2023 were all confirmed by the house.

Following the appointment of a vice chancellor for the University of Gwadar by Governor Balochistan on October 25, 2021, the University of Gwadar was formally operationalized and soon began operating as a fully autonomous university under the name University of Gwadar.

From September 2016 to October 2021, it was a Sub Campus of the University of Turbat. On October 25, 2021, it became the University of Gwadar, a full-fledged university.
