By letter dated June 13, 2023, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (PSX: SSGC) informed FFBL that RLNG was not available due to the anticipated cyclone/stormy conditions.

The urea and ammonia plants at Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (PSX: FFBL) have been shut down as a result of the suspension of gas supply due to the threat of the Biparjoy cyclone, the company reported to the Pakistani Stock Exchange on Thursday.

By letter dated June 13, 2023, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (PSX: SSGC) informed FFBL that RLNG was not available due to the anticipated cyclone/stormy conditions.

With effect from June 14, 2023, until further orders, the filing stated that SSGCL would not be able to continue gas supplies to the Fertilizer & Industrial sector due to the general lack of domestic gas.

Accordingly, urea and ammonia plants were shut down on June 14, 2023, and they will start up again as soon as SSGCL restores the gas supply, according to the statement.

The statement continued, “DAP plant will, however, continue operating until June 16, 2023; if the gas supply is not restored by that date, the DAP plant will shut down and will resume operations as soon as practicable after the gas supply is restored by SSGCL.”

Relevantly, on June 13, SSGC sent emails informing all industrial and CNG associations of the gas shutdown. In accordance with the government’s instructions in light of the Biperjoy cyclone, the gas company pledged a maximum amount of gas to the power sector to ensure that consumers would have access to electricity during this time.

Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL) is mainly involved in manufacturing and distribution of chemical fertilizers for the farmers and agriculture sector of Pakistan. FFBL is the only manufacturer of DAP and Granular Urea in Pakistan.

Its fertilizer manufacturing complex is located at Bin Qasim Eastern Industrial Zone, Karachi, whereas its registered office (Head Office) is in DHA Phase-2 Islamabad. Company is listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) since May 14, 1996 and the trade symbol of the company is “FFBL”.
