AI is intelligence perceiving, synthesizing, and inferring information demonstrated by machines, as opposed to intelligence displayed by non-human animals and humans.

Allah has revealed human potential in the Holy Quran, which has been made possible through scientific intentions. The unending breakthrough that we experience is just beginning, but the future of mankind is linked to AI. The earliest substantial work in the field of artificial intelligence was done in the mid-20th century by the British logician and computer pioneer Alan Mathison Turing, and the journey is moving at an alarming rate.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence perceiving, synthesizing, and inferring information demonstrated by machines, as opposed to intelligence displayed by non-human animals and humans.

Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision, to name a few.

The purpose of AI is to provide software that can reason about input and explain output. AI will provide human-like interactions with software and offer decision support for specific tasks, but it’s not a replacement for humans and won’t be anytime soon. However, the progress in this discipline is quite remarkable.

The journey of the field of artificial intelligence started back in 1950, and John McCarthy was one of the most influential scientists in the field. He is known as the “father of artificial intelligence” because of his fantastic work in computer science and AI. McCarthy is also known for coining the term “artificial intelligence”.

The productivity of artificial intelligence may boost our workplaces, which will benefit people by enabling them to do more work. As the future of AI replaces tedious or dangerous tasks, the human workforce is liberated to focus on tasks for which they are better equipped, such as those requiring creativity and empathy.

It is hard to predict the real future of AI; however, scientists reveal that by 2030, artificial intelligence (AI) will be an essential component of day-to-day company operations, assisting individuals in their creative activities, producing new ideas, and solving previously unachievable technologies. In some cases, collaborating with AI will be needed.

The past decade, however, has shown unprecedented growth in the development of AI technologies, mainly unlocked by the availability of computing power, the enormous amount of training data made available by Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and the decrease in cloud storage and computing costs.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a trending buzzword for some time. It’s a term commonly used for machines, computer-controlled robots, and software systems performing intelligent tasks such as learning, planning, reasoning, and interacting, simulating the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals.

The global AI software industry is growing rapidly. Statista reports that it is expected to reach $126 billion by 2025. It is considered an engine of economic growth and the next big disruptor.

Many countries have developed dedicated AI frameworks and policies to facilitate education programmes and research and development (R&D) centres to advance technological advancements and economic growth.

In Pakistan, it is the right time to embark upon smart approaches based on artificial intelligence. After all, Pakistan has great potential in AI, with its scope ranging from solving local problems in agriculture, governance, climate change, and manufacturing to creating tech unicorns and service companies specialising in hi-tech and AI software exports.

There is also a need to investigate China’s “Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan,” the US executive order on “AI leadership,” and “AI Made in Germany”, for, after all, Pakistan has great potential in AI, with its scope ranging from solving local problems in agriculture, governance, climate change, and manufacturing to creating tech unicorns and service companies specialising in hi-tech and AI software exports.

It is the right time for Pakistani policymakers to encourage investments in AI for a prosperous future for young scientists. So, it is the right time to twist the approach and enter into future technology.
