A co-working center has opened in Sialkot as part of the Punjab Information Technology Board’s (PITB) e-Earn programme to help freelancers, start-ups, and business owners.

The co-working center was created in association with Beanbags, a well-known local provider of IT solutions. At the event were PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Ali Zeb, and Joint Director Freelancing Wing Ahmed Islam.

Current locations of the e-Earn Centers include Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, and DG Khan. With the help of private partners, these centres have been established to give small businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs access to workspace. The program’s beneficiaries are given office space, free internet, electricity, a training facility, etc.

“e-Earn is Punjab’s largest co-working network for freelancers with a special emphasis on promoting inclusion and fostering diversity,” remarked PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif on this occasion.

“E-Earn aims at creating equal work opportunities for women and the differently abled persons, along with assuring a comfortable and secure environment,” he continued.

Age restrictions range from 18 to 40 years, and freelancers with a strong work history can register to secure a seat for six months. In addition, the government will cover 70% of the registration fee to help the independent contractors.

In response to economic growth and the need for a central innovation hub for new freelancers, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) launched the e-Earn project. An influx of younger, highly skilled professionals created a need for curating the largest coworking network.

PITB is committed to provide freelancers and entrepreneurs with flexible workspaces, essential resources, and unrivalled community experiences. In addition to providing a shared space, e-Earn also has its own distinctive identity and all the benefits of coworking.

The goal of PITB is to turn Punjab into the centre of information technology (IT) through the development of human resources, the creation of economic activity, IT education, outsourcing, and infrastructure. Its purpose is to “develop IT as a major economic activity, and promote its use in the public and private sectors for increasing efficiency and competitiveness.”
