Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of technology where machines are designed to perform tasks that would typically require human intelligence. Recently, there has been a new trend emerging where AI is being used to replace human jobs in various industries. This means that robots and other AI applications and tools will take over many tasks that were previously done by humans.

I believe that the implementation of AI will increase job opportunities and provide more employment for youth. I disagree with individuals who claim that AI automation will reduce job opportunities.

In 1995, when I was studying computers at university, people from all walks of life were concerned that computers would reduce job opportunities. Many experts and students believed that the implementation of computers would result in a decrease in employment. Industries, factories, and government offices were expected to hire fewer workers.

However, as computers, telecommunications technology, and the internet became more prevalent, a wave of new job opportunities emerged globally. For example, typewriters could only earn a limited income, but with computers, they learned applications like CorelDRAW, MS Office, and Photoshop, allowing them to earn thousands.

Nowadays, many individuals work from home, earning significant incomes through e-commerce, freelancing, programming, and web development. Moreover, businesses have increased productivity and profitability by leveraging computers and the internet. Entrepreneurs have maximized profits through effective technology utilization. The advent of computers has not resulted in fewer jobs but instead created new possibilities and reshaped industries.

Let’s look at the past. There were no roads, railways, or aeroplanes like we have today. People used horses, camels, donkeys, and elephants for long journeys.

They used ships or boats to travel across the sea and rivers, and they loaded their belongings onto these boats to reach their homes and workplaces. When roads were built, people were scared. They thought that the boats and camels or horses would be replaced.

They were worried about losing their jobs. But something unexpected happened. Instead of losing their jobs, buses, trucks, trains, and other vehicles started to run on the roads. This created many new job opportunities that they had never thought of before.

New businesses, factories, and the transportation of agricultural products and other goods to faraway cities became easier and more affordable. These roads connected remote areas to cities, improving the lives of people in villages and making them prosperous and wealthier.

Robots or AI-based devices or applications can be introduced in hospitals to assist doctors and staff. I think they would be helpful and efficient. They would accurately diagnose the illness, conduct thorough medical check-ups, and prescribe the right medicine.

AI, a field of technology, can speed up decision-making for judges and lawyers by analyzing arguments and assisting in legal research. AI algorithms can analyze vast amounts of legal data and precedents, aiding lawyers in building stronger cases.

It can also assist the police in writing FIRs and conducting critical inquiries into criminals. AI can enhance efficiency and lower costs in industries, factories, and power plants. In busy places like passport offices, NADRA offices, and airports, AI can simplify processes and make them more efficient for the public.

By using AI in vehicles, road accidents can be reduced, saving many lives and ensuring safer travel. Our education system needs improvement, and AI-based facilities can provide high-quality education in fields like science, engineering, medicine, and computer programming. With AI as teachers, we can create a competitive global education environment.

Based on my experience in the IT field, I believe that the introduction of AI will bring about new job opportunities while also replacing certain roles. Many jobs will require individuals to up-skill or re-skill themselves, opening up numerous new opportunities.

However, some traditional job positions may become obsolete. The implementation of AI in industries, railways, and government departments will result in the availability of new job prospects and increased productivity and efficiency. AI will prove beneficial in addressing issues related to food shortages, stock management, and enhancing agricultural productivity.

AI will be able to understand language, recognize images, and respond to voice commands. It is unlikely that AI will completely replace the army. Instead, AI as a field of technology can improve military capabilities by enhancing surveillance, analyzing data, and using autonomous weapon systems.

It will also lead to the development of new trends and skills in areas such as e-commerce, content writing, journalism, social media, digital marketing, filmmaking, and documentary production.

The value of degrees may diminish in the future, as skills will hold greater importance in creating new opportunities. AI-based tools will assist judges, lawyers, and police officers in their inquiries without replacing their roles entirely. In hospitals, robots and AI technology will support paramedical staff, while trained AI-based doctors will complement the existing medical workforce.

AI’s dark side encompasses various risks and negative implications. One concern is the use of AI in social media for warfare, where AI-generated fake content can deceive and harm individuals. There is also an increased risk of cyberattacks and hacking, which can be more sophisticated and targeted.

Bias and discrimination in AI decision-making are worrisome issues where unfair judgements or the spread of false propaganda can occur in political, election campaign, character assassination, social, religious, and economic contexts.

Privacy and security are important because personal data can be collected and used without permission. Additionally, when robots are created exclusively for sexual or romantic relationships, it will affect human connections and society as a whole. Furthermore, AI can be used to develop dangerous weapons that can operate without human control.

It is important to create clear rules and laws that ensure AI, the field of technology, is used in a responsible and safe manner. These regulations can hold organisations and developers accountable for the actions and decisions made by AI systems.

While AI has the potential to bring great advancements and benefits, it also raises important ethical and societal concerns that must be addressed proactively. Let’s embrace AI skills for better opportunities.
