The Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) proudly observed International Museum Day on Thursday (May 18), joining museums all over the world.

The purpose of this day, according to the International Council of Museums, is to increase public awareness of how important museums are as venues for advancing global peace and development. The symposium’s main focus was on the value of museums in advancing study, instruction, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

“Museums, Sustainability, and Well-Being” was the focus of the 2023 International Museum Day. This theme emphasised how important museums are to the advancement of sustainability and well-being ideas. By gathering, preserving, and displaying artefacts that recount the history of our planet and its various life forms, museums help to achieve these objectives.

Students, families, and people who are passionate about history, science, and culture were among the audience members who attended the Pakistan Museum of Natural History’s celebration of International Museum Day. The occasion emphasised the museum’s dedication to encouraging equity, inclusion, and lifelong learning.

Dr. Saima Huma Tanveer’s presence and interactions with PWDs and careers highlighted the museum’s dedication to fostering an inclusive experience for all visitors.

The ceremonial cake cutting was attended by Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig (SI), the Chairman of the Pakistan Science Foundation, as a symbolic gesture.

This action served as a reminder of the importance of International Museum Day and the teamwork needed to protect and promote cultural heritage, symbolising unity and shared celebration among all those in attendance.

The chairman’s presence also gave attendees a chance to talk with one another and exchange opinions and experiences about the museum and its exhibits.

Visitors had the chance to peruse a number of exhibits all day long that highlighted Pakistan’s diverse flora and fauna, geological treasures, and cultural artefacts.

Guided tours were offered by knowledgeable museum staff to help visitors better comprehend and appreciate the exhibits. Dr. Saima Huma Tanveer thanked all the guests and participants for contributing to the day’s unqualified success.
