The Undergraduate Research Symposium (DURS2023) was held at the Dhanani School of Science and Engineering (DSSE) at Habib University on May 16, 2023.

The symposium, which was the first of its kind in Pakistan, was a great success and gave undergraduate students a useful opportunity to present their research to a larger academic audience. Additionally, it promoted networking and cooperation between academics, professionals, and students.

Habib University, a centre for undergraduate research in Pakistan, gave students from prestigious universities in Karachi a stage on which to present their outstanding work in the areas of climate and health, renewable energy and robotics, and artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.

Universities that took part, such as NEDUET, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), FAST NUCES Karachi, Bahria University, and others, placed an emphasis on community-wide learning.

The symposium included keynote remarks from Mr. Samir Hoodbhoy, CEO of Data Communication and Control (DCC) Pvt. Ltd., in addition to the poster and oral presentations.

The value of research in fostering innovation and influencing the future was discussed by Mr. Hoodbhoy. Additionally, he exhorted students to never give up on their goals and to keep pursuing their areas of interest in research.

A distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Asim Imdad Wagan, Dr. Atif Tahir, Sameena Shah Zaman, and others, judged the symposium.
