7th Forum On China Pakistan Technological Cooperation Held At BTBU

The China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Center in Beijing hosted the first international seminar on the topic of “China-Pakistan Science and Technology Enterprises Cooperation.”

Over 30 renowned science and technology organisations, both public and private, took part in the seminar, which was jointly hosted by the Zhongguancun Belt and Road Industrial Promotion Association (ZBRA) and the Pakistani Embassy in China, according to Gwadar Pro on Monday.

Khan Muhammad Wazir, the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing’s Science and Technology Counselor, discussed Pakistan’s need for international cooperation in science and technology.

He highlighted the potential for scientific and technological collaboration between China and Pakistan in a variety of areas, including emerging technologies, cutting-edge materials, green energy technologies, the digital economy, smart cities, minerals and natural resources, and the modernization of agriculture through technology.

Pakistan requires technologies for food processing, herbal medicines, transportation and highways, space sciences, aviation, and aerospace, as well as medical technologies, drug discovery, and vaccine development.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are concentrating on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging people-to-people exchanges, setting up joint research laboratories, working together to establish technology and hi-tech parks, facilitating technology transfer initiatives, promoting high-quality scientific research, enhancing innovation capacity through joint R&D, establishing institutional linkages, and initiating cooperative projects.

Khan Muhammad suggested that in order to run the Beijing-based China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Center, a coordination committee made up of representatives from ZBRA, the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, MOST China, MoST Pakistan, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, STZA, etc. needs to be jointly established.

The ZBRA’s president, Zhang Xiaodong, announced the establishment of the China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Center to connect Pakistani and Chinese youth innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Center will create a plan for cooperation with Chinese and Pakistani science and technology companies, take into account the requirements for development in artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, financial technology, biotechnology, agriculture, and other areas, and gather innovative components and funding to assist Chinese technology companies in expanding in Pakistan.

Presentations were made by representatives of the participating institutions, both public and private, who also expressed their willingness to work with Pakistan on specific projects.

For practical collaboration, they consented to hold separate meetings with ZBRA and the Pakistani Embassy. It should be noted that the Seminar suggested that Pakistan host the second international seminar of the China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Center at the end of this year or at the beginning of the following year.
