A partnership between HBL Microfinance Bank (HBL MfB) and Special Communications Organisation (SCO) has been announced in order to build and run Skardu, Gilgit-first Baltistan’s Software Technology Park (STP).

The HBL Microfinance Bank has pledged to support this cause with 15 million rupees. The STP Skardu has produced encouraging results during its pilot launch phase, earning Rs 2 million from IT companies using the STP and employing 60 people. In order to realise its full potential, the next phase excites both organisations.

HBL MfB and SCO have previously collaborated on projects, and HBL MfB hopes this support will begin a new era of collaboration for the Gilgit Baltistan region.

HBL MfB actively seeks out opportunities to assist local communities and contribute to their standard of living, as the Bank with the most active presence in the region.

“We are honoured to work with SCO to create Skardu’s first-ever Software Technology Park. We are excited to participate in this initiative because we think it will not only help the local IT industry but also open up job opportunities for the community “HBL Microfinance Bank CEO and President Muhammad Amir Khan said. SCO has been crucial in tying the nation’s northern region together and assisting the local populace.

The Software Technology Park of Skardu is being established in collaboration with HBL Microfinance Bank. This partnership will help to advance the technology industry in Pakistan’s northern region and benefit the surrounding communities.

The pilot launch phase of STP Skardu has been successful, and with HBL MfB’s assistance, SCO Director General Major General Muhammad Shahid Siddeeq is confident that it can realise its full potential.

The collaboration between SCO and HBL Microfinance Bank marks a significant turning point for both companies. HBL Microfinance Bank Ltd. was founded in 2002 and granted a licence by the State Bank of Pakistan. The Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) transformed the credit and savings section into HBL MfB through a structured process.

HBL MfB was founded to give thousands of underprivileged households opportunities. It enables clients to strengthen their entrepreneurial foundations and build financial, physical, and human capital to secure their futures through targeted products and services based on the changing needs of the poor.
