As part of its efforts to develop a diverse, influential, and long-lasting startup ecosystem in Malaysia, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) of that country has, through Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd. (Cradle), launched a series of micro-conferences on Tuesday called MYStartup NXT.

Statement from Cradle stated that this run of micro-conferences is a continuation of MYStartup’s successful roadshow initiative. MYStartup NXT will be held nationwide, beginning in Cyberjaya, moving on to Sarawak, Penang, and finishing in Sabah.

In Malaysia, local startups are encouraged to participate in the micro-conferences in order to gain access to the benefits and support of the startup ecosystem and scale to the next level.

Given that Kuala Lumpur is already one of the top 25 emerging ecosystems globally and that MYStartup is on a mission to create over 5,000 high-quality startups by 2030, there is enormous potential for other regions of Malaysia that must be realised.

According to Malaysia MADANI’s aspirations, one of which is to create an innovative and high-tech nation, “MYStartup NXT is a part of the government’s effort to cultivate accessible innovation and support long-term startup development.

Accordingly, the MYStartup Annual Report’s release today will help the government carry out these goals through high-impact initiatives, according to Chang Lih Kang, minister of science, technology, and innovation.

Ahmad Kashfi Alwi, Senior Vice President of Ecosystem Development at Cradle, claims that the MYStartup NXT series will enable, grow, and ensure that each local startup community in the nation.

Whether from the Klang Valley, Northern or Southern region, East Coast, or even East Malaysia, they do not miss out on benefiting from programmes organised by MYStartup. MOSTI through Cradle reaffirm the commitment to create an ever-sustainable ecosystem that is inclusive, to see all local startups flourish and scale at a competitive level.

MYStartup has also on Tuesday introduced MYStartup Dev, a data-centric, community-driven platform exclusively designed to connect tech talents with talent development partners and upskilling programs.

MYStartup Dev will guide and teach new skills for career advancement, nurture networking with industry experts, and stay current with the latest skills and technologies, ultimately unlocking the full potential of young local tech talents in Malaysia.

Throughout the NXT tour, states and federal entities are encouraged to communicate continuously with each other to achieve the goal of cultivating and nurturing more startups throughout the country.

MYStartup Strategy is a national initiative by the MOSTI and Cradle.

It consists of a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s startup ecosystem and community. MYStartup Roadshow, MYHackathon, MYStartup Pre-Accelerator, MYStartup Accelerator, MYStartup Internship, and MYStartup Mentorship are a few of them.

The programmes are designed to make sure startups are carefully guided from the ideation stage onward, as well as trained, supported, and given the chance to highlight their company profiles in order to draw in foreign investors.

The MYStartup Program is a component of the Malaysian Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER), with Cradle serving as the startup ecosystem’s focal point agency and having the responsibility of ensuring that this strategy is advantageous to the startup ecosystem as a whole. This effort is also in line with MOSTI’s goal of producing five unicorn companies and 5,000 start-ups by 2025.
