The Punjabi government took initiative to raise cotton production in the region. The target area for cotton cultivation in Punjab has been set at 5 million square feet per acre, and the target for cotton production has been set at 8.2 million square feet per bale, according to Caretaker Chief Minister.

Each division and district of Punjab has been given the task of achieving the cotton production and cultivation target. A major choice has been made to give farmers a special preferential package in order to expand the area under cotton cultivation and its output.

After reviewing the proposal to provide agricultural input loans and soft loans, Caretaker CM asked the Bank of Punjab for a detailed plan. In order for the farmers to meet their cotton goals, caretaker CM gave the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners instructions to offer every facility possible.

Cotton’s minimum support price has been set at Rs. 8,500. Under any circumstances, CM instructed to guarantee the availability of certified seed. According to CM, the federal government will also provide assistance in order to obtain certified seed. Chief minister was given the order to crack down on those who sell faulty seed and fake pesticides.

CM emphasised that farmers, administrative officials, and staff members of the Agriculture department will be encouraged if they meet their cotton targets. Before leaving for London, Caretaker CM ordered the departments of Agriculture, Administration, and Information to launch a vigorous campaign to expand the cotton cultivation area.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers SM Tanvir, Amir Mir, Gohar Ejaz, patron-in-chief of the APTMA, Fawad Mukhtar, Shahid Sattar, Doctor Jawad, secretaries, the chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board, and other relevant officials.

Via video link, the meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the Secretary of Agriculture (South Punjab), Commissioners, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad.
