Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), has stated that turning the unskilled workers into human wealth is the only way to give the nation a high position on the global stage. Universities play a crucial role in this regard because they have the ability to turn unskilled workers into professionals.

At a meeting of the Deans, Directors, and Principal Officers of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) held at the Vice-Secretariat Chancellor’s on the Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir presented these ideas.

He stated that the achievements made at the teaching and research forum are worthy of imitation for all universities, and it is very satisfying that the IUB is moving in this direction under the direction of Vice-Chancellor Engr Prof Dr. Athar Mahboob.

A particularly good initiative is the creation of new departments for health, medical allied sciences, engineering, information technology, and other topics, as well as the provision of many admissions for both male and female students.

He expressed his happiness at visiting the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the illustrious Abbasia Campus, and the unquestionable Solar Park on the Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus.

He claimed to have enjoyed touring the Khawaja Farid Campus’s pharmacy, business management college, sports facilities, health centre, and other departments.

According to him, social sciences and the arts are equally crucial for a harmonious society, and Islamia University Bahawalpur is moving in the right direction in this regard with its new master’s programmes in the College of Art and Design, social services, and social sciences.

In a similar vein, he stated that there is a need to establish a centre of excellence in artificial intelligence and that IUB’s IT department is offering high-level services in this area, where software like the admission cell, campus management, and administrative management system are very much appreciated.

He also praised the more than 12 billion rupees worth of development work at IUB and stated that, due to economic pressure, the university is currently investing its funds in initiatives that will have long-term and significant effects. which, along with the university, will be crucial to the social and economic development of the region.

At the Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Dr. Shahid Munir administered the oath to the officials of the University Students’ Society for the year 2023 and gave the keynote address. On this occasion, renowned motivational speaker Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal also spoke.

Chairman PHEC paid a visit to the furniture production facility at Islamia University Bahawalpur and expressed his appreciation for the establishment of the furniture factory by the university. In the Soil Sciences Faculty of Agriculture and Environment at IUB, he also opened the Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad Soil and Environmental Microbiology Lab.
