A Cloud Acquisition Office (CAO) has been established by the Ministry of IT and Telecom in the National Information Technology Board building.

According to media reports, the CAO has been informed at the federal level under the Cloud First Policy, according to sources in the IT Ministry. The sources claim that as soon as the cloud policy adoption framework has been approved, the Sindh Government will also create a CAO.

The Sindh Government will receive all necessary technical assistance from MoITT, according to the ministry, for the establishment of the Cloud Acquisition Office. Additionally, a representative for the Cloud Office in the federation will be chosen by the Chief Secretary Sindh.

The governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had prepared a cloud policy framework, according to the Ministry of IT and Telecom, but due to political unrest, this policy could not be approved.

The governments of Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are in contact with the ministry of information technology and telecommunications. These governments will receive technical assistance in establishing the Cloud Acquisition Office once they have approved the policy framework.

The Cloud Acquisition Office (CAO) will assist Public Sector Entities (PSE) with designing, architecting, procuring, building, migrating, and managing their workloads and applications on the cloud in accordance with the Cloud First Policy.

Call-offs for PSE requirements will be started by CAO. Call-offs will only be open to Cloud Service Providers (CSP) that have been granted accreditation by the Cloud Office. In the call-off, the CSP with the best offering will be chosen.

A Service Level Agreement will be signed between Public Sector Entities and Cloud Service Providers in accordance with Cloud Policy. The Public Sector Entities will notify the CAO of any violations of the Service Level Agreement between PSE and CSP.

The Cloud Office will be informed if the Cloud Service Providers continue to seriously violate the Service Level Agreement. The Cloud Office will take the appropriate action, in addition to other remedies available to PSE, depending on the type and severity of non-compliance.
