The opening of registration for this year’s European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2023 has been announced by the Commission with pleasure.

The event will be held from June 20–22 under the theme “Accelerating the clean energy transition – towards lower bills and greater skills.”

June will once again be the traditional month for the event. EUSEW, which consists of a number of activities aimed at constructing a sustainable and secure energy future for Europe, is the largest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in the continent.

Similar to last year, European Sustainable Energy Week 2023 will be run in a hybrid style that combines both online and offline components. To participate in discussions on various topics related to the overall theme, participants are invited to register and can choose to attend the event online or in person at the Charlemagne building in Brussels.

More than 8000 people attended the event in 2022, both in person and online, including government officials, experts in energy policy, business owners, NGOs, EU project partners, researchers, students, and consumers. A similar turnout is anticipated for this year’s event.

Highlights of EUSEW 2023 include the EUSEW Policy Conference, which takes place from June 20 to 22. Skills for the energy transition, energy efficiency, renewable energy, accessibility and inclusion, decarbonization policies, and international cooperation are some of the major topics.

The European Commission and energy stakeholders have organised 60 sessions with high-level speakers to talk, debate, and share best practises.

The prestigious European Sustainable Energy Awards ceremony, held on June 20 in the presence of Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, honoured people and initiatives for outstanding efforts in four categories: innovation, local energy action, women in energy, and sustainability.

A Young Energy Champion will also be named in honour of their accomplishments. On June 20, the fourth annual European Youth Energy Day will feature a World Café featuring 30 young Europeans and a session on energy communities.

An energy fair, which gives organisations and associations the chance to showcase their initiatives and interact with participants, is one of the week’s many networking opportunities.

Additionally, from April to the end of June, local Sustainable Energy Days are held all over the world to promote the use of renewable energy and energy-saving technologies.

The European Commission launched EUSEW in 2007, and it is run by the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), in close collaboration with the Directorate-General for Energy.
