TEVTA MG JW Signs Agreement To Develop Pakistans Automotive Industry

The National Automotive Policy (NAP) update needs more time to be examined, according to Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, as stakeholder engagement sessions are still ongoing.

The plan, according to the minister of investment, trade, and industry, is to make sure that Malaysia’s automotive policies are in line with recent developments in science, technology, and innovation; as a result, any changes won’t be made public until solid plans are finally in place.

“We’re still taking feedback from stakeholders and industry players as there have been a lot of developments in the automotive industry. We need to give attention to what was in the NAP before this too,” Zafrul said when met here.

“I’ll be talking with the agencies and ministries so that we can review the points the industry participant raised about technological advancements in the automotive sector because we need to be flexible and willing to make the necessary changes. ”

In doing so, we hope to continue to be competitive and relevant. The question of NAP changes is therefore premature at this time. Once we and the appropriate agencies have time to review them, I hope to provide you with some feedback, he continued.

According to observers, the NAP created in 2020 needs to be updated so Malaysia can keep up with changes in the automotive industry and continue to be relevant and competitive in the market.

A call was made for the National Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy to be updated in addition to NAP 2020 in order to promote its adoption in Malaysia in the face of growing environmental, social, and governance demands across the globe.

“I think we need to be flexible with any long-term plans, like the National Automotive Policy’s 10-year timeline. Reviews and discussions will be held in order for us to excel in this area, Tengku Zafrul continued.” I believe that any long-term plans, such as the National Automotive Policy, should be open to change.”
