The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) has awarded a contract to the joint venture of ACE-NESPAK-BAK-AGES to provide “Consultancy Services for Construction of Mujahidin Hydropower Project at Barando River, District Torghar” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dr. Tahir Masood, the managing director of National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), told the media on Tuesday that the project’s goal was to use hydropower to produce 6.95 MW of inexpensive, environmentally friendly electricity.

The project’s primary goal is to decrease load shedding in the District of Torghar. He said that among the services provided by the consultant are feasibility reviews, the creation of EPC bid documents, the assessment and awarding of EPC contracts, contract management, and aiding PEDO in carrying out the employer’s obligations under the contract with the EPC Contractor.

Dr. Tahir Masood claims that the joint venture between ACE-NESPAK-BAK-AGES brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the project. Particularly, NESPAK has a proven track record in the industry, having successfully completed numerous hydropower projects in Pakistan and other countries.

He went on to say that the team is committed to finishing the project on schedule and to the highest standards. “The Mujahidin Hydropower Project is anticipated to have a significant impact by providing the neighbourhood with dependable and affordable electricity.

He continued, The nation’s efforts to meet its goals for sustainable development will also be aided by increasing the share of renewable energy in its energy mix.

The National Engineering Services Pakistan, or NES, is a multinational, state-owned energy contractor with headquarters in Pakistan that offers consulting, engineering, construction, and management services on a global scale. It ranks among the biggest engineering consulting and management firms in Asia and Africa.

As of 2016, NES had contracts for 3,642 projects, of which 3,116 were domestic and 526 were international, totaling $243 billion in project costs.

Its projects include the $4 billion Neelum-Jhelum Project, the $500 million Farah River Dam Project, the $500 million New Islamabad Airport, the $1.65 billion Lahore Metro, the $1.65 billion Neelum-Jhelum Metro, the $800 million New Islamabad Airport, and the $893 million Salalah Airport Expansion. It also manages the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant on behalf of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.
