Space and nuclear technologies, according to Dr. Tariq Rafi, chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, are essential for advancing science, inventing ground-breaking products, and advancing civilization.

He made this statement while serving as the keynote speaker at Hamdard University. This was particularly significant because the 21st century had been dubbed the era of space and nuclear technology. ‘The Role of Nuclear and Space Technologies for Sustainable Development’ was the topic of Dr. Rafi’s lecture, according to a statement on Thursday.

Former ambassador and CISSS executive director Qazi M. Khalilullah served as conference chair. This conference was put on by the Center for International Strategic Studies Sindh in association with Hamdard University.

In his opening remarks, Professor Kaleem Ahmad Ghiyas, registrar at Hamdard University, welcomed the attendees with open arms. Distinctive speakers at the conference included Dr. Naeem Salik, Executive Director of the Strategic Vision Institute in Islamabad, Zafar Iqbal, a member of Space Application and Research at SUPARCO, Dr. Ansar Pervez, Former Chairman of PAEC, Professor Dr. Tariq Javed of Hamdard University, and Dr. Mehboob Ali Sial, Director of the Nuclear Institute of Agriculture in Tondo Jam, who shared their insightful lectures. Dr. Mohid, the director of CISSS, and Aeiman Taj, the assistant director of ORIC, were also present.

The CISSS Executive Director, Qazi M. Khalilullah, emphasised the organization’s dedication to conducting rigorous and fact-based research and analysis of current strategic issues in nuclear strategy in his presidential address. The importance of nuclear and space technology in the modern era was emphasised by several speakers during the conference.

The speakers also commended SUPARCO, Pakistan’s leading national space agency, for its dedication to advancing space technology for Pakistan’s socioeconomic advancement. They added that since the middle of the 20th century, nuclear applications have been used in the areas of energy, agriculture, health, industry, and the environment.
