Verdant Solar Hopeful About Adoption Of Solar Technology In Malaysia

Verdant Solar, a local player, is optimistic about adoption of solar technology in Malaysia. The business, which was recently recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records for having installed the most photovoltaic (PV) system homes in a year, declared its commitment to assisting in the creation of sustainable towns and cities to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Wang Woei Shenq, project business development manager at Verdant Solar, stated that the company hoped to support a sustainable future through its solar solutions, but that they would require more support to persuade more people to adopt such a solution.

“There is no doubt that we need the assistance from government of Malaysia in creating more supportive policies for citizens to use solar technology. We are working hard to provide services, solutions, and Internet of Things systems from our end.”

“We think that in addition to concentrating on current solar users, we need an app that allows even regular power users to double-check their own electricity bills. This will greatly aid us in attracting more residents to purchase the technology,” Wang continued.

Zeth Lim, chief executive officer of Verdant Solar, added that lowering the cost of the solar panels and providing an easy adoption process would increase their uptake.

“We are looking into opportunities in battery energy storage systems and electric vehicle (EV) charging in addition to solar PV. We recognize the EV industry’s rapid growth and want to contribute by assisting EV owners in achieving net-zero emissions through the integration of solar and battery systems into their EV ecosystem. Customers will still have energy during blackouts thanks to the new battery systems, Lim said, while also helping the environment.”

To cut their electricity bills by up to 90% in 2022, Verdant Solar installed solar power systems in more than 650 properties, or 6.5MWp. This translates to RM171.5 million in electricity bills for their customers and a 209,792 tonne reduction in carbon dioxide emissions over a 25-year period.

Verdant Solar anticipates that by 2023, Malaysia will have 3,322 MWp of installed solar PV capacity, helping it to realise its goal of using renewable energy to improve the world.
