In a short period of time, the Government College University (GCU) launched the Software and Hardware Laboratory, marking another significant accomplishment.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif, inaugurated the software and hardware laboratory on Tuesday, according to a university spokesperson. The lab was established in the academic building of the university.

Students will learn about hardware and software in the lab’s cutting-edge facilities, and teachers will also receive assistance with their research according to the spokesman. In his remarks, the vice chancellor described the present as a time of science and technology, with computer technology playing a significant role.

Since the invention of computers, the educational system has changed. For teaching, cutting-edge new techniques have been put in place. The computers are also very important and helpful to the students in helping them understand difficult concepts and problems.

She claimed that technology is the foundation for all developed nations’ growth and that we should raise the level of expertise of our labour force. Students, officers, and members of the faculty were all present.

GCU was one of the first educational institutions to be established in the Punjab and is one of the most well-known Lahore colleges. Its doors have seen generations of students who have gone on to achieve eminent positions in Pakistan’s society across all spheres of endeavor.

Despite the fact that the establishment of a Central College in Lahore was approved in 1856 with the stipulation that the professors must hold degrees from Oxford, Cambridge, Dublin, or Durham, the college did not officially open its doors until January 1, 1864, inside the palace (haveli) of Dhian Singh/Khushal Singh, in Lahore’s Walled City.

The renowned Dr. G. W. Leitner, whose name is closely associated with the College, served as its first principal. The college relocated to a sizable bungalow close to Anarkali in April 1871. Its location was changed in 1873 to Rahim Khan’s Kothi, another residence.
