In a meeting with interim Punjab Chief Minister on Sunday at the CM office, a 13-member delegation from the Italian Development Cooperation Institution led by Director Luca Maestripieri discussed issues at the meeting to increase cooperation in the areas of career training, environmental pollution eradication, and the agricultural industry.

The decision was also made on other topics included how to deal with smog and vocational training institutions with the aid of Italian technical assistance. During the meeting, cooperation with regard to the renewal of GSP Plus status was also discussed.

CM also thanked Italy for opening its markets to the European Union. According to CM, the Punjabi government would welcome Italian technical assistance to improve the agricultural industry and other sectors.

Career training are designed to help individuals acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a specific career or advance in their current profession. Career training can include programs in various fields, such as business, healthcare, technology, and trade and technical skills.

Caretaker CM told the delegation that the Punjab government would value Italian technical support in effectively combating smog.

The opportunity to align the vocational education of Punjab with the most recent standards would be made possible by providing training to the TEVTA instructors in Italy. The leader of the Italian delegation remarked that they were happy to have visited Lahore and that Punjabi culture and hospitality are remarkable.

While the Additional Secretary of Environment briefed the delegation on the air quality index and environmental pollution, the CEO of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) provided an overview of investment opportunities in Punjab.

The Italian delegation included the Partnership Expert Mission Coordinator, Honorary Consul of Italy Fahad Iqbal, Francesco Zatta, Emmanuelle Benini, Jacopo Branchisi, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Office Stefano Glinianski, Head of the Evaluation Office Francesceo Capecchi, Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy Roberto Neccia, and others. SM Tanveer, the provincial industries minister, the secretaries of agriculture and information, the CEO of PBIT, and other relevant officials were also present.
