The UK-based education provider, the Cambridge has raised registration fees by 16% per subject, affecting 85,000 students across the country.

Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has raised registration fees for its upcoming examination series (May/June session 2023) for O and A level students in Pakistan, where families are already facing skyrocketing inflation.

According to the new CAIE policy, the fee for O’Level students intending to take the Pakistan Studies, Islamiyat, and Urdu exams has been raised by around Rs10,000 per session, while the fee for 11th graders with five subjects—English, Mathematics, and three natural sciences—has been raised by around Rs15,000. Similarly, the total fee for A Level’s three standard natural science subjects has been hiked by almost Rs 6,000.

According to a school official, the CAIE received Rs 19,340 for each science subject at O-Level, which has now been raised to Rs 22,390, while the fee for each non-science subject has been raised to Rs 20,340.

If a student chooses Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, Urdu, or O Level, the Cambridge registration fees will be Rs 61,000, up from Rs 52,500 last year, whereas students choosing Math, English, Computer Science, Chemistry, and Physics will pay around Rs 150,000 for the upcoming session.
