Dr. I. H. Kathio, a well-known veterinarian who was born in Pakistan and a graduate of Sindh Agriculture University, died in the USA at the age of 69 from a heart condition.

World Renowned Veterinary Expert Dr Kathio Passes Away

The vice chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University expressed his sorrow over the passing in the United States of Dr. Inayatullah Kathio (I. H. Kathio), a world renowned veterinary expert and alumnus of the institution.

Dr. I. H. Kathio, a well-known veterinarian who was born in Pakistan and a graduate of Sindh Agriculture University, died in the USA at the age of 69 from a heart condition. His illness started over the summer, according to Dr. Kathio’s daughter, McKayla Kathio.

Dr. Kathio, a veterinary expert, was born in Naseerabad, Larkana district, on September 8, 1953. In 1978, he earned his DVM from Sindh Agriculture University‘s Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences.

He earned his Ph.D. and post-doctoral degree from Georgetown University, Missouri, Columbia University, and Iowa University before moving to Washington in 1981 on a fellowship. He worked as a veterinarian for the Government of Sindh, a research officer for the FAO, and a consultant for the UNDP.

Before relocating to Washington, D.C., in 1981 on a fellowship, he received his Ph.D. and post-doctoral degree from Georgetown University, the University of Missouri, Columbia University, and Iowa University. He held positions with the FAO as a research officer, the UNDP as a consultant, and the Sindh Government as a veterinarian.

Dr. Kathio used to participate in veterinary science programmes on various American television channels, such as Fox TV, Hazelton TV, Philadelphia TV, and PAX TV, as well as write scientific articles for international newspapers. Due to his close ties to US and Pakistani political leaders, he also held the status of a Pakistani diplomat.

Since 2002, Kathio has operated animal clinics in the US city of Pittston and Mexico, where he previously provided care for the pets of well-known Americans, including Hillary Clinton.

Tando Jam, vice chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University Despite living in America, Dr. Kathio provided great services to the nation, including Sindh, according to Dr. Fateh Marri, who referred to Dr. Kathio’s passing as a great loss to the veterinary community.

During his visit to Sindh Agriculture University, he claimed that Dr. Kathio educated the students about the advancement of veterinary sciences around the globe, modern technology, as well as laboratory and surgical work. He also claimed that Dr. Kathio continued to work on animal welfare and development projects around the globe through various international organisations.

Dr. Fateh Marri claimed that Dr. Kathio was a renowned veterinary specialist who was well-known on a global scale.
