Gwadar Economic Zone Under CPEC Is On Verge Of Completion

During a seminar titled “A New Perspective on China,” Director Political and Press Section of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan Wang Shengjie stated that the Gwadar economic zone has been completed and a state-of-the-art international airport, hospital, and metro centre are nearing completion.

A seminar titled “A New Perspective on China” was held in Islamabad on Tuesday. The seminar was co-organized by China Media Group’s FM-98 platform and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan.

He stated that Gwadar has been linked to the National Highway via the Expressway under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He also stated that China has completed eleven power projects in Pakistan.

Former Ambassador Ali Sarwar Naqvi praised China’s assistance for Pakistan’s development. He claimed that China, through CPEC, invested in Pakistan at a time when no other country was willing to do so.

Wang Shengjie stated that a thousand programmes for capacity building in various sectors of Pakistan have been launched.

Reema Shaukat, an expert in international affairs, praised China for supporting Pakistan’s stance in international fora, particularly on issues concerning Afghanistan and India. According to Dr. Noor Fatima, an economist, China has become a world leader in promoting a market economy.

Air Vice Marshal retired Ijaz Mahmood Malik, a defence analyst, stated that China assisted Pakistan in the construction of an aeronautical complex where J-17 Thunder fighter jets are manufactured.

According to Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hassan of the Centre of South Asia and International Studies, China’s Belt and Road Initiative fosters an environmentally friendly environment of cooperation among various regions and countries around the world.

The seminar was attended by Aman Ullah Sipra, Director News and Current Affairs of Radio Pakistan; Riaz Ahmed Malik, Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf Observer; people from various walks of life; and students.

In late 2015, a Chinese company was granted a 43-year lease on approximately 2000 acres of land for the development of the Gwadar Special Economic Zone.
