191 artificial intelligence (AI) enabled cameras outfitted with advanced technology have been installed at entry at the entry and exit points of Islamabad.

Following the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, the Islamabad capital police are installing modern cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve security and surveillance in the federal capital, Islamabad.

According to a police spokesman, Safe City Islamabad is fully operational and effective in its surveillance and monitoring duties, and it is playing an important role in the elimination of criminal elements in the federal capital Islamabad.

Due to these cameras, a taxi driver involved in sexual harassment was also arrested as a woman registered a complaint of sexual harassment on the helpline of Islamabad Capital Police “Pukar-15”. After receiving the complaint, the Safe City Islamabad staff acted quickly, tracking down the vehicle and informing the appropriate police officials. The accused was arrested, and a case was filed against him at the Secretariat Police Station.

Capital Police Officer (CPO) Safe City said that Islamabad Capital Police is utilizing all resources to strengthen the security of the federal capital, adding that the Eagle Squads have been closed from the police stations and centralized in safe city by connecting it with “Pukar-15”.

An integrated police unified communication and response system has been implemented, allowing Eagle squads to respond to calls quickly. Keeping in view the convenience of the citizens, the missing report of any valuable item is registered through the online system, and people are informed to collect it from the relevant police station after being traced.

AI security cameras are specialised network IP cameras that can detect vehicles, people, and faces, as well as perform advanced analytical functions like traffic counting, people counting, and licence plate recognition (LPR). Artificial intelligence for video surveillance employs computer software programmes that analyse audio and image data from surveillance cameras to recognise humans, vehicles, objects, attributes, and events.
