NEECA Signs QESCO MoU On Energy Efficiency Conservation

The National Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (NEECA), Quetta Electric Supply (QESCO), and Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on energy efficiency conservation, on Thursday.

On the occasion, senior officers from NEECA, QESCO, and BUITEMS were present. Speaking at the MoU ceremony, Federal Minister of Science and Technology stated that the government is attempting to take effective measures to address Pakistan’s energy crisis, particularly in Balochistan.

He maintained that the introduction of solar systems would aid in overcoming the difficulties faced by Balochistan’s landowners and agriculture department. He stated that the goal of the MoU with BUITEMS University was to conduct research using the students’ skills and to address energy-related challenges.

University students would also be offered internships, according to the minister. The government’s top priority was to solve Balochistan’s problems, he added.Meanwhile, BUITEMS Vice Chancellor Engineer Ahmed Farooq Bazai stated that effective measures were required to overcome the energy crisis. “The establishment of COMSATS University is a welcome move; it will help to raise the province’s educational standard,” he added.

Dr. Sardar Moaz­zam, MD NEECA, and Naeem Kakar, Chief Engineer QESCO, also spoke at the event. The three institutions signed the MoU at the end of the ceremony. According to the key points of the MoU, the university will receive technical expertise and capacity building in the specified areas, as well as institutional support and opportunities to access funds for the establishment of accredited testing labs.

Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences has given education a new perspective and meaning. QESCO was one of the eight AEBs established by amendments to the WAPDA Act in 1981. The Pakistani government approved the revamping of the WAPDA power sector, which resulted in the formation of twelve companies.
