Over 350 innovative projects by students from more than 40 universities were showcased at a health innovation exhibition that opened at the Dow University of Health Sciences.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 7th All Pakistan DUHS DICE Health Innovation Exhibition 2022, Muhiyuddin Chawla, member of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Association and chief executive officer of a local pharmaceutical company, said the country could be taken forward towards development with the cooperation of industries and educational institutions.

“Educated youth can change the destiny of the country by working hard. There is nothing to be disappointed about. Youngsters should work hard on their projects. Every great work in the world has started on a very small scale,” he observed.

DUHS Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy regretted that research and inventions in Pakistan couldn’t be turned into marketable products.

“The main reason is the industry has no direct relationship with educational institutions. If the project is meant for people’s benefit, it must become a part of the market in the form of industrial goods. All this has happened in the world,” he said.

He told students that the main objective of the exhibition was to motivate them, and they could interact with representatives of the industry.

Dr Khurshid Qureshi, founder chairman of Dice Foundation, shared information about Nur-E, an electric car developed by the joint efforts of students from various universities of Pakistan. “It has undergone several trials. It has also been successfully tested at a speed of 100km per hour on Lyari Expressway. We can earn hundreds of billions of dollars from one product by introducing Pakistan’s first electric car,” he said.
