COMSTECH Youth Forum on Biotechnology in Agriculture Concludes

COMSTECH 3-day “Youth Forum on Biotechnology” organized in collaboration with Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, Turkiye and Islamic Organization for Food Security, Kazakhstan concluded. The president of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi inaugurated the forum at COMSTECH auditorium on Sept. 13. The inaugural session was attended by the Ambassadors/Diplomats of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Somalia, Qatar, Iraq, and Uzbekistan. This three-day forum was attended by more than 170 national and international participants in-person, whereas many people attended this forum from 35 OIC member states online on Zoom.

The forum comprised on four sessions. Each session was chaired by international renowned scientist currently working in the field of biotechnology. Sixteen lectures were delivered by the international and national biotechnologists. Each session was followed by panel discussions and question and answer sessions. The topics of lectures were plant genetics and genomics, plant biotechnology, genome editing, crop improvement, gene modification, iron biofortification, innovations in plant tissue culture, abiotic stress tolerance, green revolution to gene revolution, speed breeding conservation of biodiversity, nanomaterials, bio-fertilizers, nano-biosensors, nanoparticles, plant molecular farming and biodiversity.
