As Pakistan is in dire need of power, the 40.8-megawatt Koto Hydropower project in Timergara, Lower Dir will start functioning, adding the much-desired green power to the national grid by the end of 2022.

Koto project to start power supply by year-end

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Secretary Energy and Power Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) chief executive officer on Saturday visited the project site to examine the pace of work “Heavy machinery has been installed and the project will be completed in the current year,” an official statement released after the visit stated.

“Koto Hydropower is a key project of Pedo, aimed at cheaper, renewable, environment-friendly power,” said the Pedo CEO, keeping in view the present and future energy requirements of Pakistan, especially in the rural and remote areas of the province.China’s Sichuan-Sarwar-Silian-Chongqing Luyang (JV) is the contractor of the Koto project , which will export 205 GWh of energy annually in the future.
