Speaking about the PTCL group’s future plans, the CEO said, “We have no plan to participate in the new spectrum auction but terms and conditions for the new auction should be the same as they were during the last spectrum auction.” He was speaking at a press conference held on Monday to announce second quarter financial results of the group. The CEO also expressed concern over high fuel prices in the country, which took the company’s accounts into the red, despite higher revenues in the first six months of 2022. He highlighted that the overall PTCL group revenues registered a growth of 5.7% in January-June 2022 compared to the same period of last year.
In the group, the PTCL posted a revenue growth of 4.7%, Ufone 3.5% and Ubank 25% for Jan-Jun 2022 against the same period of last year. Speaking on the occasion, PTCL Group Chief Financial Officer Nadeem Khan revealed that PTCL/ Ufone and other telecom operators had asked National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to announce an industrial tariff for the telecommunication sector as it had been granted the status of industry by the government. He called the absence of industrial tariff a discrimination against the sector.
