A group of 45 science teachers, including resource persons of the training workshop on climate change education through inquiry-based science education (IBSE), visited National Skills University Islamabad.
This workshop has been organized by the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, and Sukkur IBA University. According to the Vice Chancellor National Skills University Islamabad, climate change workshop is a timely initiative as the Pakistani population is touching above 210 million. Continuous increase in population adversely affects the overall weather due to heatwaves, melting of glaciers, floods, and droughts. It was also disclosed that National Skills University Islamabad has embarked on a climate change educational initiative through its green youth program. The chief guest of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, stressed avoiding deforestation and removing trees to make new colonies and houses. According to him, plants have an immense relationship to healthy living and the stability of the environment. After the ceremony, Vice Chancellor NSU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar presented flower bouquets to the workshop’s chief guest and resource persons from Malaysia and Pakistan.
