Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training inaugurated National Skills University Islamabad today. Speaking on the occasion, he described the ceremony organized for this event as a dream come true. According to him, on his first visit to the university, it was a barren and deserted place with disappointed employees. Illegal occupants occupied several areas of the university.
With the arrival of Founding Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the area has improved gradually. It is one of the most thriving skill education centers with hardworking, highly qualified, skilled employees. The university’s contributions towards Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Pakistan Program are praiseworthy. The Minister lauded Chancellor Dr. Arif Alvi’s continued support towards the university, mainly in establishing an industry advisory council. The Federal Minister also appreciated the university Vice Chancellor’s efforts in implementing a new skills education model in collaboration with several international partners across the globe.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar briefed how the university got its national and international recognition within the shortest span. Moreover, he briefed that six undergraduate programs in various technology domains have been introduced initially. Besides this, high-tech short courses under the umbrella of Prime Minister Hunarmand Pakistan Program are also ongoing. The most prestigious IT company, Systems Ltd, is also running a program on Professional Programming at the university’s premises. Both the Minister and Vice Chancellor appreciated Mr. Mohyuddin A Wani, Additional Secretary, MoFE & PT, for resolving several complex governance matters related to the NSU.
Mr. Shahid Ahmad Khan, a member of the Industrial Advisory Council of the university, briefed about contributions of this body constituted by the University Senate and its accomplishments.
The Federal Minister also inaugurated a 50 computers IT laboratory. All these computers have been provided through Muller & Phipps and Dell Technologies.
