NA Standing Committee On National Health Services Approves Three Health-Related Bills: A meeting of the committee was held here under the chairmanship of Member National Assembly (MNA) Khalid Hussain Magsi.

After the detailed discussion, the committee approved three bills on agenda including Islamabad Health Facilities Management Authority Bill 2021, the Pakistan Nursing Council (Amendment) Bill 2021 and Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Council passed Bill 2021. Though the committee passed three bills, it also objected to not including Members Parliament (MPs) in the nursing council.

The committee also said that director generals Health and Nursing of the four provinces should be included in the Nursing Council. “Pakistan Nursing Council Amendment Bill wants to force its policy,” remarked MP Dr. Shazia Sobia.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on NHS Dr. Faisal Sultan said that no MP can join the council while three civil society representatives are joining it.

The committee chairman also said that government is not including an elected representative and proving that the elected representatives are incompetent.

“You want the bill to be passed by ineligible people,” he remarked.

MP Alia Hamza said that the committee should know that the case has improved after the amendment in the law.

SAPM on NHS Dr Faisal Sultan discussing the Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Council requested that the word “allied” be removed from the bill.

He said that Pakistan Health Professionals Council is an expanded term while nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and all health professionals should be involved

The committee approved the Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Council Bill 2021 with amendments.
