Pakistan is ranked at 2nd Position just below Bangladesh when it comes to most polluted countries. Most recently the government have been making efforts in solving this issue. Introduction of electric vehicles in Pakistan was a much-needed step. The Pakistani government will soon be introducing its new EV Policy that would be beneficiary for the automotive industry. And as EVs will soon hit the road, a local solar panel manufacturer, Tesla Industries has introduced its first locally manufactured, EVX Ultra-Fast Charger.

Their first EV charging product was initially inaugurated by Mr. Sardar Yasir Ilyas, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 9, 2021. Later, on May 31st, 2021, Tesla proudly introduced the State-of-the-Art EVX Ultra-Fast Charger to Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Company reports claim that the Tesla chargers can fully charge an electric vehicle in 30 minutes. The charging station was used to charge an Audi E-Tron from 0-100 percent which took 35 minutes. The results are quite shocking as it is for the first time that such technology has been introduced by a local brand.

Just a reminder, this is not the Tesla Inc. run by Elon Musk in the US. Tesla Industries is one of largest solar panel manufacturers of Pakistan. The company is based in Islamabad. The company started its journey in 1992 with the indigenization of gas geyser thermostat. Now they have stepped into another venture of EV charging stations.

For the past few years, Pakistan has been trying its best for the popularization of electric vehicles in the country. It will not only be beneficent to the country’s climate but will also provide solution for economic crisis. There would be less fuel consumption which would result in less import. The introduction of such technology is a game changer for Pakistan. With the introduction of EV chargers, we might experience some locally manufactured EVs in the country too.
