Netflix Is Reportedly Looking To Expand Into The Video Games Industry With A New Apple Arcade-Style Service. That’s according to The Information, which reports that “Netflix is looking to hire an executive to oversee an expansion into video games, a sign it is stepping up its efforts to grow beyond traditional filmed entertainment, according to people familiar with the situation.”

The report goes on to state that the streaming company is interested in releasing games via a subscription in “bundle” form, similar to Apple Arcade. A Netflix spokesperson said the company is “excited” to do “more with interactive entertainment.”

“Our members value the variety and quality of our content,” the spokesperson told Polygon. “It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering — from series to documentaries, film, local language originals, and reality TV. “Members also enjoy engaging more directly with stories they love — through interactive shows like Bandersnatch and You v. Wild, or games based on Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel, and To All the Boys.

“So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment.” This wouldn’t be Netflix’s first foray into video games. The company has previously hosted a number of interactive choose-your-own-adventure shows such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and has even released its own video games based on the Stranger Things IP.The streaming giant has also produced dozens of video game adaptations over the years, most notably The Witcher, Sonic the Hedgehog, and a Resident Evil movie.
