NTC Will Formulate Recommendations For National Education Policy

An online meeting of the National Technology Council (NTC) was held on 17th February 2021. Mr. Imtiaz Hussain Gillani, Chairman of the NTC, chaired this meeting. Other participating in this meeting were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chairman of the NTC, along with Vice-Chancellors from Alhamd University Quetta, Karakoram International University (KIU) Gilgit, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, University of Swat, Rector National Textile University (NTU) Faisalabad.  Experts from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTSD) Khairpur Mirs, Registrar and Program Manager of the NTC, also attended the meeting. Participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of technical education, prioritized placement in the upcoming education policy being formulated by the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MoFE& PT). The Chairman, NTC, disclosed that a joint committee of the MoFE&PT, Higher Education Commission (HEC), and NTC are developing a career path for engineering technologists’ job opportunities in the country.

Technology education experts of this meeting stressed that keeping in view the government’s deep interest and emerging global demands, technology and skill education must be on top of the agenda. The meeting participants unanimously agreed to hold a meeting of all stakeholders, including technologists, in the 3rd week of March 2021 to formulate recommendations related to technology and associated skills trainings for their assimilation into the National Education Policy. This meeting will be held at the UET Taxila, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice-Chancellor, National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad, will chair the organizing committee.
