UET Mardan: Initiates Strategic Plan Targeting Grants & Entrepreneurship

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization at the University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, headed by Dr. Naveed Mufti, has been initiating certain measures, as part of a Strategic Plan targeting Grants, Collaboration and Commercialization/Entrepreneurship.

With regards to Faculty Capacity Building, ORIC organized a two-part training for faculty members, on the theme “Requirements of a Good Proposal”. In conformance with COVID-19 SoPs, the training delivery was hybrid, with the option of attending the session in-person on university campus,  as well as online via MS Teams. In addition to sharing certain guidelines and DOs and DONTs about good research proposals, the faculty members who responded to the calls for proposals and submitted their proposals, and those who had acted on the review/monitoring team/panel, shared their experiences with the audience.

With regards to capacity building for students, ORIC at UET Mardan, in collaboration with Empowerment Thru Creative Integration (ECI), organized two-day training for students, on the theme “Generation of Ideas for Social Entrepreneurship“. The training was conducted on 04 and 05 November 2020. A total of 92 students registered for, and participated in the training workshop. In line with the SoPs due to COVID-19, the training was conducted in two sessions. During the six-hour training spread over two days, the participants were first introduced to Social Enterprise, Sustainable Development Goals, Self assessment and relevant potential areas in Pakistan. On the second day, the participants were trained on Root Cause Analysis, Process of establishing a social enterprise, Identifying target customer, Feasibility Study, Digital toolbox and Financial Planning for social enterprise. The last session of the training involved feedback and evaluation of the proposals and ideas shared by the attendees.
