Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) & Telecom, Syed Ameen Ul Haq paid a visit to Virtual University of Pakistan, Kala Shah Kaku, Campus.

Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) & Telecom, Syed Ameen Ul Haq paid a visit to Virtual University of Pakistan, Kala Shah Kaku, Campus and reviewed the construction progress of the Genomic Center on November 9, 2020. On this occasion, to pursue the Prime Minister’s vision of Green Pakistan, the Federal Minister planted a sapling under the plantation activity of Virtual University. He also inaugurated the new Learning Management System of VU at Virtual University, M.A Jinnah Campus, Lahore. 

Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) & Telecom, Syed Ameen Ul Haq visited VU, KSK Campus and was received by the Rector, Virtual University, Mr. Naeem Tariq along with Director ICT, Mr. Ehsen Zafar Puri, Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Arif Rafiq, Director ORIC, Dr. Arshad Hussain Hashmi, Registrar Virtual University, Dr. Mohsin Javaid, Director Administration, Mr. Ahmer Sayeed Qazi,  Director Campuses, Mr. Farhan Sadiq and Project Director DigiSkills, Mr. Zafar Alvi.

The Federal Minister appreciated the work progress of the Genomic Center at VU, KSK Campus. He also appreciated Virtual University for providing quality education to the masses across Pakistan and abroad. He lauded the facilities provided by VU to its students and its convenience to study at any time, anywhere. He said that the current government has an acute interest in promoting education through E-Learning and Digital Pakistan is the dream of Prime Minister, Imran Khan. The Ministry of IT and Telecom is facilitating all such initiatives which support the vision of Digital Pakistan. 

The Ministry of IT and Telecom along with Virtual University is working on all those projects that will create employment opportunities in the country. VU has executed the DigiSkills Training Project in a very effective manner and achieved the target of 1 Million enrollments ahead of time.

Recently, a meeting of higher management of VU was held with the President of Pakistan on VU e-learning mode of education and how VU can help educational institutions in the domain of e-learning. He said that the Ministry is trying to move Pakistan forward in the field of education through provision of IT skills. Although we have limitations due to a low budget in the education sector however, efforts are being made to increase the current percentage of the budget up to 10% of the country’s GDP. We have a huge portion of the young population in the country and we are trying to equip them with the latest knowledge and skills so a well educated and skill based young workforce will contribute towards the country’s progress which will lead us towards prosperity.

Our goal is to create a skilled workforce in the country. He appreciated VU’s mode of education and its affordable fee structure. Women make up 54% of the country’s population. Efforts are being made to increase the role of women in the workforce of the country.

He also visited Virtual University, M.A Jinnah Campus (Head Office) and inaugurated the newly launched “Learning Management System” for VU students. At the end, a visit to the VU TV Department was made where a briefing about the TV Department was given.

Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) & Telecom, Syed Ameen Ul Haq appreciated the e-learning education of Virtual University and assured support of the Ministry of IT and Telecom to VU for the dissemination of quality education to the masses.
