On August 27th, Beijing Technology And Business University (BTBU) Successfully Hosted The Third Training Session Of China-Pakistan Science Workshop, Information Management

Prof. Zheng Wenhong, Vice President of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU), attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Prof. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General of Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Center (PASTIC) as one of co-organizers, Tian Wen, Vice President of Beijing Association for Science & Technology (BAST), Dr. Mirza Habib Ali, Director (Research Support) of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), and Jia Wei, First Secretary of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, delivered remarks successively. Information Management, The training session was supported by China Association for Science & Technology, Beijing Association for Science & Technology (BAST), Pakistan Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST), Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Beijing. More than 40 scientific and technical personnel from Pakistan participated in this session. The training was moderated by Di Yuna, Dean of Department of International Business Management, School of International Economics and Management, BTBU.

Vice President Zheng Wenhong expressed gratitude to all the experts and scholars for attending this training session. Since July, two sessions of China-Pakistan Science Workshop have been successfully held, with more than 200 people trained. It has received great attention and wide attention from related organizations and institutions of China and Pakistan. BTBU also thanks all units for their support of this China-Pakistan Science Workshop. For this session, BTBU invited Director Yang and Director Zheng, two well-known domestic experts from Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China(ISTIC), to conduct training on S&T Data Management and S&T Reports Publishing. ISTIC and PASTIC are high-level S&T information and S&T intelligence management institutions in China and Pakistan respectively, which play an important role in the development of S&T in the two countries. It is believed that through this training session, the two parties can further strengthen the extensive cooperation in the fields of S&T information, S&T achievements and S&T platforms, and jointly promote the continuous development of China-Pakistan S&T information management. At the end of the year, BTBU will host the fifth “Belt and Road” China-Pakistan Science and Technology and Economic Cooperation Forum. It will be a great honor to have leaders, experts and friends from China and Pakistan to attend the forum, who will be warmly welcomed to have a visit to BTBU.

Information Management, Prof. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General of PASTIC expressed thanks to all parties for their support. It is believed that this online training session will provide assistance to Pakistani related personnel in the study of S&T policy, S&T information technology, information management, etc.

Tian Wen, Vice President of BAST expressed thanks to Chinese and Pakistani organizers for their hard work and positive contributions to promoting S&T exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. He said that BAST has been committed to promoting people-to-people connections among S&T personnel, promoting the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. It is hoped that the holding of a series of S&T training sessions will help Pakistan solve current major problems, continuously enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and deepen the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan.

Dr. Mirza Habib Ali, Director of PSF, pointed out in his speech that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of global scientific cooperation and exchanges. The development of information technology can enable us to learn from China in new ways. This China-Pakistan Science Workshop jointly organized by China and Pakistan is very meaningful. S&T information management provides China and Pakistan with better S&T policies, therefore, this time China and Pakistan attach great importance to this training session.

Jia Wei, First Secretary of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, expressed that China and Pakistan are good brothers who have passed the test. Facing the COVID-19 pandemic and the locust disaster, China has provided Pakistan with a large amount of material, experts, equipment and other support. The cooperation in COVID-19 pandemic between China and Pakistan is very important to the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The governments of the two countries have also established some cooperation mechanisms and cooperation projects. This Science Workshop is conducive to further promoting China-Pakistan S&T cooperation and cultural exchanges. The two experts attending the training session today are very professional in the field of S&T information management, and he is confident that they can provide more support and help to the Pakistani scientific researchers.

Information Management, During the training session, Director Yang Daiqing of ISTIC introduced the main databases, analysis methods and specific cases of China’s S&T information collection with the topic of “Scientific and Technological Information Management and Analysis”, and Director Zheng Yanning introduced the topic of the main content, system construction and best cases of China’s technical reports with the topic of “Technical Reports System of China”. The Q&A session was moderated by PSF. The trainees from Pakistan expressed thanks to the two professors for their targeted and practical and wonderful lectures and then conducted active discussion about the content of the lectures

China-Pakistan Science Workshop were held in three sessions on July 23rd, August 20th, and August 27th, training more than 200 Pakistani S&T personnel. The training effect is remarkable and wide-ranging. It has enhanced the influence of BTBU’s international cooperation platform, promoted China-Pakistan cultural exchanges and S&T cooperation, and driven the innovative and high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
