Japanese-Retail-Giant-Uniqlo-Planning-To-Use-Vending-Machines-To-Sell-Clothes

Vending machines normally dispense soda, coffee, and packaged snacks. Lately, however, forward-thinking businesses have revamped the capabilities of the traditional kiosk to stock unconventional products such as marijuana, scooters, and actual cars.

The always-innovative Uniqlo is now planning to use vending machine to sell clothes. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Japanese retail giant has apparently fallen short in U.S. sales and hope that its forthcoming machines will help escalate purchases stateside.

The concept is not new, but it’s presumably a smart one. Uniqlo wouldn’t need to hire personnel to man the vending machines and the items will be available to purchase 24/7. The company is working to roll out at least 10 machines this month and they will be placed in shopping malls as well as airports in major cities such as New York, California, Houston, and more.

“We’re trying to understand where we can be more successful without making a big commitment,” said Marisol Tamaro, Uniqlo’s U.S. marketing chief. Tamaro describes the vending machines a “learning lab.” If all goes well, you can ostensibly expect to see more Uniqlo vending machines in various locations, perhaps, internationally as well.

Nonetheless, stay tuned for more details and let us know your thoughts on the matter
