It has been suggested during a meeting chaired by the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood that the schools, colleges, universities and Educational Institutions in the country should not be allowed to open before September 1.
According to the details, it was agreed that the educational institutes across the country should be opened in the first week of September with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).
It was further announced that the final decision will be made in the last week of August after evaluating the overall situation and advice from the health ministry of the country.
The minister said that he will discuss the matter further during a meeting of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) which is scheduled to be held on Thursday.
Saeed Ghani—the Provincial Education Minister of the Sindh government said that the schools have suffered a financial crunch because of the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the deadly virus. He suggested that private schools should be given interest-free loans too.
While responding to the provincial minister’s suggestion, Shafqat Mahmood said that he will discuss the issue with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that all provincial education ministers and officers, including those in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), participated in the meeting via video link with Educational Institutions
