A notification has been issued to make it compulsory to teach Quran with translation in universities across Punjab. In Punjab universities, one will not get a degree without reading Quran with translation.

Governor Punjab and Chancellor of Universities, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, in consultation with the Vice Chancellors of all the universities, announced to teach in the universities with Holy Quran translation.Lecturers in all the universities of Punjab will read the Qur’an with translation to the students and it will be as mandatory for the students to attend this lecture as it is for other lecturers. The Quran curriculum will be taught in universities in addition to Islamic studies.

The Governor further said that the Holy Quran is the source of real guidance for us and only by following the teachings of the Holy Quran can the world and the Hereafter be improved.

The Governor said that we have constituted a 7-member committee headed by Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Akhtar who has finalized all the issues, after full consultation with the Vice Chancellors of all the universities.
