Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar during his budget speech said that Rs 69 billion has been allocated for various dams including Bhasha Dam while Rs 80 billion will be spent for power and energy projects.

During the budget speech, the Federal Minister said that Pakistan is suffering from severe water crisis, this year the government is paying special attention to water related projects, Rs 69 billion has been allocated in the budget for power and energy projects.

These projects will create more water storage and power generation, as well as create more than 30,000 jobs. He said the focus is on energy expansion projects and improving the power transmission and distribution system and reducing revolving loans.

Special Economic Zones have been allocated financial resources for power supply projects and foreign-aided projects. In this regard, the government has allocated Rs 80 billion. These funds are specifically earmarked to bridge the gap between electricity demand and production.
