Earphones : However, the earbuds don’t offer active noise cancellation

Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 review

Xiaomi has finally decided to join the true wireless bandwagon. The launch of the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 in India will validate that.

Every product in this category is pitched as a rival to the AirPods and this isn’t different. The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 come only in white. Like its counterparts, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 too seem to have got its design inspiration from Apple. Though the device has its own design aesthetics as well. For instance, the earbuds have a glossy finish, while the white stem comes with a matte finish. Just like the other earbuds in the market, this one too comes with a storage-cum-charging case. The charging case has a matte finish with a single button and LED indicator.

The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 come with 14.2mm drivers and are compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The earbuds offer touch controls that can be used to change tracks and control volume. There is also an infrared sensor for intelligent wear detection. This means that the earbuds will automatically pause the track you are listening to if you remove them from the ears.

The earbuds offered a balanced audio experience. The highs were crisp while the mids were clear. For their price segment, they perform quite well. The earbuds also allow music streaming via the LHDC codec. We tried streaming music via LDHC codec using the Mi 10 5G and the quality was fine. Like all other True Wireless earphones in this segment, you won’t find any active noise cancellation in the Mi earphones as well.

The earphones are backed by a 30mAh battery, while the charging case houses a 250mAh battery. The earbuds managed to churn out 4 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the help of the case, the battery backup increases to 14 hours.

The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 is a good choice for those looking to buy earbuds for the first time. If you want a cheaper alternative, consider Realme Buds Air which retails at Rs 3,999
