The Department of Microbiology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Institute of Public Health Lahore (IPH) arranged an awareness seminar and walk to create awareness among general public regarding Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in City Campus.
Vice-Chancellor University of Education Lahore (UE) Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and UVAS Vice-Chancellor Emeritus Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad co-chaired the concluding session of the seminar while Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Prof Dr Tahir Yaqub, Dean (IPH) Prof Dr Zarfishan Tahir and a large number of students, faculty members and officials from IPH were present.
Prof Pasha speaking on the occasion that it is direly needed to spread awareness among general public through social media regarding the real facts of Novel Coronavirus to curb misconception viral on social media to save livestock sector in Pakistan.
Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that UVAS always arranged such seminars for the information of general public regarding emerging issues. He said any single mortality of human caused of this Coronavirus is alarming situation. He advised experts to record 3 to 5 minutes short video clip and upload on YouTube channel for the information of public regarding Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Later, Prof Pasha led the walk while Prof Nasim Ahmad and a large number of faculty members, students and IPH officials were participated. The walk starting from Pasha Academic block and culminate at in front of UVAS main lawn after took round of campus.
Earlier, Prof Dr Tahir Yaqub delivered a lecture on the role of animals in emergence, spread and diagnosis of Novel Corona Virus 2019 while Prof Dr Zarfisha Tahir spoke about prevention and control of Corona Virus and Prof Dr Muhammad Akram Munir highlighted the need of Coronavirus vaccine as a disease mitigation and control strategy.
Head of Infectious Diseases IPH Dr Tahir Mahmood talked about Noval CronaVirus (2019-nCoV) epidemic and travel advisory about this global emergent issue.
The objective of the seminar was to educate general public about emergence of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) issues especially its transmission and prevention by adopting best hygiene practices. In which various aspects have been discussed related to introduction of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), transmission, symptoms, serious complication which can lead to death and possible preventive measures etc.
